1MDB:The more you try to make sense..the more it doesn't

Eyebrows were raised when the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz said 1MDB is offering 500 scholarships to 8A+ scorers in the SPM examination this year to study in public and private academic institutions in the country. Bravo! Great move! Whats the catch? But, to make the decisions on who would be eligible, the PM himself would make the selection (Wow, what?, he doesn't trust his comrades? or....wink...wink).Dr Wee said the MCA had submitted a list of SPM scorers based on the criteria agreed to by all parties to Nazri in Putrajaya yesterday.Your guess is as good as my guess on how the list looks like. But that apart, the main issue here is 1MDB, what are they, trying to unmask them is not an easy task. on their official website, this is what that is claimed:

"1MDB is a strategic development company wholly owned by the Government of Malaysia.  As a strategic enabler for new ideas and new sources of growth, 1MDB leads in market-driven initiatives to help transform Malaysia into a thriving economy."

1MDB was set up with RM5 billion raised through government-guaranteed bonds. Najib is also advisory board chairperson of 1MDB, focused on bringing Middle East investments to Malaysia. It raised eyebrows recently when it chose an Abu Dhabi-based company, Mubadala Development Co., over local players as a joint-venture partner to develop the Kuala Lumpur International Financial District (KLIFD) mega project. KLIFD is a component in the government’s Economic Transformation Plan (ETP). (as reported on the official website of the Office of the Prime Minister of Malaysia, 8 Oct 2010).1MDB was also dragged into controversy when government-owned prime land in Sungai Besi was transferred to them without without any tender exercise, and what further fuelled the fire was when after the first year in operation,  Najib   announced a net profit of RM425 million  after its first financial year ending 31 March 2010.And of course if you could remember when it (1MDB) got tangled into a Hollywood fiasco when Low Taek Jo @ Jho Lo was caught partying with Paris Hilton...where else but in Paris....and he was identified as the person responsible to bring in the fund especially from the middle east to 1MDB. so, by offering scholarships and others they are trying to repair their battered image?....
Ok...bye for now.........a.h.baharom
