Poem and T-shirts: New Age weapon

It was one of the darkest spot in the Malaysian history, when National Laureate, A.Samad Said was hauled for investigation under the Sedition Act, which is highly believed to be related to the poet that was written by him aptly titled "Unggun Bersih", and published on his blog spot on June 26th 2011. He is accused of fanning and campaigning for the Bersih 2.0 demonstration which would be held on 9th July 2011, but seriously please read his poem which I reproduce at the end of this blog, I can't find anything wrong or seditious about it,Samad Said himself is also baffled why his poem is considered as "seditious" and as a weapon. In another development, the number of people being arrested for wearing the Bersih 2.0 t-shirts are alarmingly on the rise.Among them are the incidence whereby Police  detained eight men who were wearing yellow T-shirts with 'Bersih 2.0' written in Jawi script at Taman Kosas in Ampang Kuala Lumpur.

The comment by Bar Council president Lim Chee Wee that was given to The Malaysian Insider was quite ticklish “By analogy, if one were to be at home wearing a Che Guevara (the Marxist revolutionary) T-shirt listening to a song attacking the institution of royalty by either The Smiths or The Sex Pistols, one faces a very real likelihood of being investigated for waging war against the King. This surely cannot be,”

It also baffles me when I could see t-shirts with profanities being sold in the opn, and worn freely, while in contrary, wearing Bersih tishirt is a grave offence.....GOD help and have mercy on us......and as I promised earlier, below is the poem by the legendary Samad Said......till we meet again.....good night..a.h.baharom

Unggun Bersih
Semakin lara kita didera bara—
kita laungkan juga pesan merdeka:
Demokrasi sebenderang mentari
sehasrat hajat semurni harga diri.
Lama resah kita—demokrasi luka;
lama duka kita—demokrasi lara.
Demokrasi yang angkuh, kita cemuhi;
suara bebas yang utuh, kita idami!
Dua abad lalu Sam Adams berseru:
(di Boston dijirus teh ke laut biru):
Tak diperlu gempita sorak yang gebu,
diperlu hanya unggun api yang syahdu.
Kini menyalalah unggun sakti itu;
kini merebaklah nyala unggun itu.

Socialism and Communism: Looks and sounds similar, but they are not

The furore created by the reported news on the 30 PSM members in Penang, on their so called attempt to revive Communism, though to some might create uneasiness and uncomfort, but for those who really understand economics and real politics, it is some form of humor. I am amused to the 'shallow' understanding of the actual situation, and more amused by the comments made by certain quarters, for example Rais, the infamous Minister, on the event. Coming back to point of contention, are they the same?

Below is the article based on the writing by Huberman and Sweezy, which appeared on "Introduction to Socialism," Monthly Review.

What is the difference between socialism and communism?

Socialism and communism are alike in that both are systems of production for use based on public ownership of the means of production and centralized planning. Socialism grows directly out of capitalism; it is the first form of the new society. Communism is a further development or "higher stage" of socialism.

The socialist principle of distribution according to deeds— that is, for quality and quantity of work performed, is immediately possible and practical. On the other hand, the communist principle of distribution according to needs is not immediately possible and practical—it is an ultimate goal.
Obviously, before it can be achieved, production must reach undreamed of heights—to satisfy everyone’s needs there must be the greatest of plenty of everything. In addition, there must have developed a change in the attitude of people toward work—instead of working because they have to, people will work because they want to, both out of a sense of responsibility to society and because work satisfies a felt need in their own lives.

Socialism is the first step in the process of developing the productive forces to achieve abundance and changing the mental and spiritual outlook of the people. It is the necessary transition stage from capitalism to communism. It must not be assumed, from the distinction between socialism and communism, that the political parties all over the world which call themselves Socialist advocate socialism, while those which call themselves Communist advocate communism. That is not the case. Since the immediate successor to capitalism can only be socialism, the Communist parties,-like the Socialist parties, have as their goal the establishment of socialism.

Are there, then, no differences between the Socialist and Communist parties?

Yes, there are.

The Communists believe that as soon as the working class and its allies are in a position to do so they must make a basic change in the character of the state; they must replace capitalist dictatorship over the working class with workers’ dictatorship over the capitalist class as the first step in the process by which the existence of capitalists as a class (but not as individuals) is ended and a classless society is eventually ushered in. Socialism cannot be built merely by taking over and using the old capitalist machinery of government; the workers must destroy the old and set up their own new state apparatus. The workers’ state must give the old ruling class no opportunity to organize a counter-revolution; it must use its armed strength to crush capitalist resistance when it arises.

The Socialists, on the other hand, believe that it is possible to make the transition from capitalism to socialism without a basic change in the character of the state. They hold this view because they do not think of the capitalist state as essentially an institution for the dictatorship of the capitalist class, but rather as a perfectly good piece of machinery which can be used in the interest of whichever class gets command of it. No need, then, for the working class in power to smash the old capitalist state apparatus and set up its own—the march to socialism can be made step by step within the framework of the democratic forms of the capitalist state.

The attitude of both parties toward the Soviet Union grows directly out of their approach to this problem. Generally speaking, Communist parties praise the Soviet Union; Socialist parties denounce it in varying degrees. For the Communists, the Soviet Union merits the applause of all true believers in socialism because it has transformed the socialist dream into a reality; for the Socialists, the Soviet Union deserves only condemnation because it has not built socialism at all—at least not the socialism they dreamed of.

Instead of wanting to take away people’s private property, socialists want more people to have more private property than ever before. There are two kinds of private property. There is property which is personal in nature, consumer’s goods, used for private enjoyment. Then there is the kind of private property which is not personal in nature, property in the means of production. This kind of property is not used for private enjoyment, but to produce the consumer’s goods which are.

Socialism does not mean taking away the first kind of private property, e.g. your suit of clothes; it does mean taking away the second kind of private property, e.g. your factory for making suits of clothes. It means taking away private property in the means of production from the few so that there will be much more private property in the means of consumption for the many. That part of the wealth which is produced by workers and taken from them in the form of profits would be theirs, under socialism, to buy more private property, more suits of clothes, more furniture, more food, more tickets to the movies.
More private property for use and enjoyment. No private property for oppression and exploitation. That’s socialism.

My sincere hope is for the readers to have a better understanding of Socialism and Communism, and not having any misperceptions. many people have heard of Karl Marx (I am pretty sure) but not may knows him as an Economist ( I am also pretty sure). Read more so that you can understand more, and you can become a better and wiser person.Sorry for the lengthy blog, ciao...and till we meet again.....a.h.baharom

PSM, Communism and “waging war against the Yang DiPertuan Agong.”

Normally I wouldn't blog on Sundays, but today.... I just cant help, but to write a few words, I just couldn't believe my eyes reading a special report that was published on most of the on-line news portals. Members of PSM were arrested in a bus they were travelling towards Penang. As most of us are aware, PSM is on a road show covering mostly small towns, working diligently to coax the people to vote for the opposition and change the current ruling coalition. However the police , to the astonishment of many, thinks otherwise, have accused them of having ulterior motives of reviving communism and  is planning to have them remanded under Section 122 of the Penal Code. Reproduced below is the report from The Malaysian Insider, which also appeared on Lim Kiat Siang' blog ,The whole report is reproduced unedited, so that you could have a clearer picture and a better understanding of what I an babbling.......ciao......a.h.baharom.

Hisham defends Bersih arrests, says activists had ulterior motives

By Shazwan Mustafa Kamal
June 26, 2011 | The Malaysian Insider
HULU SELANGOR, June 26 — Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein has defended the arrest of 30 Bersih activists in Penang under Section 122 of the Penal Code, saying today there were reasons to justify the police action.
The police said they are probing an alleged attempt by some Bersih activists to revive communism and are investigating 30 Parti Sosialis Malaysia (PSM) members, including Sungai Siput MP Dr Michael Jayakumar for “waging war against the Yang DiPertuan Agong.”
Hishamuddin, who is the Home Minister, said that he had yet to be briefed in detail on the arrests, but stated that preliminary reports showed that the activists had “other agendas” in mind.
“I have not received a detailed report. But preliminary reports show that the movement, which was said to be mainly a “peaceful” demonstration, (had) other agendas (in mind).
“I believe in facts. I will wait for a further report, but my orders to the police from the start was follow the law, take action to maintain peace and security,” he told reporters after opening the Hulu Selangor Umno division meeting here.
He did not elaborate on the reasons for the arrests, and stressed that it was the police who made the arrests and not him as he did not have the power to do so.
“It’s not me who arrested them. The police decide,” he said, adding that the public should look at the incident from a “wider perspective.”
Deputy Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said today that remand orders would be exercised in order to detain the 30 activists under Section 122 of the Penal Code.
The law was used to prosecute militant terrorist group Al Ma’unah who were involved in an audacious arms heist at an army camp and a tense standoff in the jungles of Perak in 2000.
Section 122 of the Penal Code states: “Whoever collects or attempts to collect men, arms or ammunition, or otherwise prepares to wage war with the intention of either waging or being prepared to wage war against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong or any of the Rulers or the Yang di-Pertua Negeri or abets the waging or the preparation of such war, shall be punished with imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a term not exceeding twenty years, and shall also be liable to fine.”
“It’s not as straightforward as the points (put forth) by Bersih … Why do you need to have roadshows (throughout) the country?” Hishamuddin said.
The government has said it will not issue permits for Bersih’s planned rally on July 9 that demands free and fair elections.

Bersih 2.0: Death Threat is an act of cowardice

Mass sms are sent to Ambika and other Bersih 2.0 leaders, death threats are embedded in these messages. In the first place, why are certain quarters so against it? After all it is just meant to be a peaceful demonstration or walkabout demanding a clean General Election. They meant to submit a memo underlining 8 points of request to the relevant authorities to conduct a fair and clean election. What is wrong with that? Or are these people (Bersih 2.0 opposition)  implicitly against it are implying that they doen't want a clean and fair election? All the rumours about the chaos and unrest that will be caused by the peaceful demonstration is unfounded. Some irresponsible parties are stroking and provoking hatred against Bersih 2.0.It reached a boiling point and I am dumbfounded and disgusted that it reach a point that they resort to sending 'death threat' laced messages to the leaders of Bersih 2.0.

For me, these people are cowards, it is a cowardice act of the lowest standard to send the messages from an anonymous mobile number. If they have valid reasons to oppose it, come out in open, state your case, defend it dilligently, and you will be revered. The hundreds of police report lodged against Bersih 2.0 is another mind boggling act. They claimed that the road closures will have a negative impact on the business operators in and around Kuala Lumpur. I am pretty sure all of us are aware that the heart of Kuala Lumpur is not new to closures of roads, every now and then it is done, be it for the Cycling race or National Day Parade, be it for Citrawarna or Flower Fest, to name a few examples. It actually contributes to and boost the economic activity in and around Kuala Lumpur, imagine having tens of thousand people there, from drink peddlers to food operators, from textile dealers to whatsoever businesses. I really hope that common sense will prevail, and the people who really need protection are those who are involved in the noble cause of having a clean and fair election.......adios......a.h.baharom

Subsidies: The Good, the bad and the ugly

Subsidy, its a favourite word nowadays, every man on the street is interested in it. They are yearning for it to be prolonged, on the other hand politicians are using it as a form of or a tool of negotiation. The politicians on the ruling side are claiming that Malaysians are heavily subsidized in their daily life, and this is burning hole in the Government pocket. Some quarters are claiming that subsidies have negative multiplier efect on the economy (is it true?)The politicians on the other side (the oppositions) are claiming that it is the right of the rakyat, and it is the Government of the day's responsiblity to ensure the continuance of it. Okay, lets start from basic, Econ 101, what is subsidy?

According to businessdictionary:
1. Economic benefit (such as a tax allowance or duty rebate) or financial aid (such as a cash grant or soft loan) provided by a government to (1) support a desirable activity (such as exports), (2) keep prices of staples low, (3) maintain the income of the producers of critical or strategic products, (4) maintain employment levels, or (5) induce investment to reduce unemployment. The basic characteristic of all subsidies is to reduce the market price of an item below its cost of production. Also called subvention

According to investopedia:
A benefit given by the government to groups or individuals usually in the form of a cash payment or tax reduction. The subsidy is usually given to remove some type of burden and is often considered to be in the interest of the public.

According to wikipedia:
A sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service may remain low or competitive.

Those definitions above are just three of the many definitions that you cant find either on the web or dictionaries. If you look at the definitions alone, can you find any negativity in subsidies?...The answer is plain NO....subsidies are described as.. support a desirable activity........ keep prices of staples low..... maintain the income of the producers of critical or strategic products.....(business dictionary), often considered to be in the interest of the public. (investopedia)......... so that the price of a commodity or service may remain low or competitive....

Everything about subsidies are described as good, I dare you to look at any dictionaries, you will come across similar answers and definition. So where is the bad and ugly part of subsidy?

Looking from the economic angle, at least the capitalist school of thought, zero Government intervention any any kind of distortion (be it tax or subsidy)  is bad, and it will make the market inefficient, but those are the capitalist...and on the other extreme you have the socialist...where every economic decisions will have to be made by the Government, decisions such as What to produce?...How to produce?...How much to produce?...etc, and all resources are owned by the Government. And somewhere in between, you have the moderate school of thought, such as the Islamic School of thought, (many doesn't realize that the Muslim world have their own reknowned economist such as Ibnu Khaldun), whereby the tenets are markets should be allowed to float as much as possible, and the Government needs to intervene in order to maximize the welfare of the people (now the Welfare State announced by PAS in their recent Muktamar is starting to make sense...). Coming back to the question of subsidies having negative multiplier effect on the economy, they claim that susidies are unproductive expenditures. When subsidies are removed, especially on the staple foods and other basic needs, it will decrease the purchasing power of the people, the inflationary rate rate will cause pressure and strain, and it will have negative impact, on the other hand, ADEQUATE subsidies, carefully planned and cautiously executed, will ensure the well being of the people and spur them to work harder and this will boost the economy.Thats why even developed country such as USA are STILL subsidizing its people...especially those in the food and textile industry.

Subsidies, although considered as some sort of distortion, it is very much needed, in order to maximize the welfare of the people. It is compulsory in order to bridge the income of the rich and poor, it is vital in order to ensure the poor are not deprived of their daily basic needs especially the the need for food cloth and shelter.Every Tom, Dick and Harry....ooppss....Ali, Ah Seng, Muthu,  deserve to be subsidized...but the conglomerates and IPPs....can do without it (Oh...I forgot, they are not subsidized, it is the forgone profit.
GOD have mercy on Malaysia and its rakyat....Subsidies are GOOD for the people, but the BAD politicians are rearing their UGLY heads in order to deny the rakyat from prospering adios...for now...a.h.baharom

Ibrahim Ali:The unwanted Hero

Ibrahim Ali, or better known as Heng to fellow Kelantanese, is one heck of sick clown, who loves the limelight, gets excited on the attention showered on him, but what he doesn't realize (or maybe doesn't want to) is that all of those are for the wrong reasons. He is one of those who have jumped parties many times, from UMNO to Semangat 46, back to UMNO, then as an Independent, then PAS friendly independent, then to UMNO friendly independent and now helms PERKASA.I remember back in 1991, I was at  the ceramah by Ku Li and Heng in Kota Bharu, and I could remember clearly, the exact words of Heng, he said that him going back to UMNO (at that point of time he followed Ku Li out of UMNO) would be equal to 'kissing' Tun Mahathir's ass), ....sigh!.....the sad reality was, a couple of months later he re-joined UMNO (that makes me wonder did he really.......), and when he was not selected to stand as a candidate, he stood as an independent, and was sacked again from UMNO, this time for life.

Since heading PERKASA (which consist mostly UMNO rejects), he is involved in one after another controversy, he came out with many controversial statements, some that might be considered seditious and racist, but somehow he remains free, prompting some quarters to claim that he has some degree of immunity, among the controversies that originated from him are such as, the crusade war against the Christians, the scholarship issues, and now the march against Bersih 2.0 issue. It seems that he enjoys all the publicity that is given to him by the media. He seems to self elect himself to the position of Rakyat's defender, protector of the people, and recently he claimed that he is 'helping' the Home Minister, although in contrary the world knows that the actual scenario is otherwise, the majorities are against him, he doesn't have any army, only a few 'parrots' who are following him around. So, I really hope everybody will stop paying attention to him and should shun him, the media also should stop giving coverage to him,he doesn't deserve even a tiny bit of it...

Khairy Jamaluddin : Version 2.0

Lately there have been many twist and turns in the life of KJ, the infamous son-in-law of Pak Lah. After winning the much coveted and much chased after UMNO Youth Chief position, by defeating Mukhriz, his political career seems to nosedive. He was not selected for any cabinet post, which is considered an embarrassment and humiliation for a UMNO Youth Chief. There was even the talk of taking a break from contesting in the next General Election.(which came from his own mouth). In fact not only him, the UMNO Youth as a whole was almost non-existence, paving the way for Ibrahim Ali to manoeuvre thru and taking the opportunity of the position of peer pressure group to the Government on the traditional and sensitive Malay issues. He even took the so called "break" and joined the voluntary territorial army (wataniah) paratroopers, and gained some measures of publicity (his photo's during the 'graduation' was splashed all over the mainstream newspapers which are primarily owned and controlled by the ruling coalition).

After lying low for quite sometime, suddenly he sprung into action (did he hire a new image consultant? I am not sure but the way things are developing, it seems more like it). It looks like he is rebuilding his battered image and the image of UMNO Youth. In the last couple of weeks, a number of incidents are pointing towards it. When the Malaysian  Premier, Najib, came under fire the PAS counterparts (Dr Dzul and the gang) on his 'abuse' of Government fund during his visit to Kazakhstan for the World Islamic Economic Forum, he (KJ) sprung to defence before Nazri (the usual savour could blink his eye and make his move). Of course it was prolonged to a twitter fight to other KJ matters such as  KJ's ECM-Libra share issue right to the Parliament. After that incident,KJ grouped together his faithful comrades in the Youth movement and announced the decision to take it to the streets, also on 9th July, to oppose Bersih 2.0, a decision which was warned by his predecessor Hishamuddin,  the Home Minister but KJ was adamant on getting on with it.

That decision was followed by his sharp criticism on Langkawi International Dialogue, whereby he controversially questioned the need of having such dialogue. He also further questioned the wisdom of inviting Robert Mugabe and Omar Al-Bashir. His moves are a clear indication of open confrontation with Tun Mahathir, the man behind the creation of the dialogue and the person who is responsible to identify the invitees. However the deafening silence by Tun Mahathir on KJ's objection took many quarters by surprise, Tun refused to comment, no feedback could be obtained from him, not even from his blog. The ways and the rate of developments of these issues are indeed signs of re-branding by KJ, but one thing is for sure, it is either make or break for KJ, he will either elevate himself to a more permanent and long-standing position (for once without his father-in-law's support) in UMNO, or it will be the end for his political career or in other words, political suicide.Till we meet again....Ciao....a.h.baharom

RHB Capital sale and BNM condition:Clouded with mysteries

CIMB Group Holdings Bhd and Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank), undeniably Malaysia's two biggest banks  is competing rigorously to take over RHB Capital which is widely believed to be the fourth biggest lender in Malaysia. If indeed CIMB is successful (they are indeed considered as the front runners) in their bid, the bank led by the PM's younger brother (Nazir Razak), would eventually become the biggest bank in not only Malaysia, but also South East Asia, If that happens, it will seems that CIMB would have completed a remarkable turn around. .It is understood that both these banks (CIMB and Maybank) have obtained  Bank Negara approval (individually or separately that is) to begin competing merger talks with RHB Capital.

According to The Malaysian Insider report, analysts have said the RHB Capital takeover could be based on a price to book value of 2 to 2 5 times which will work out to between RM9 70 and RM12 per share Based on RHB’s share base of 2 2 billion shares any investor buying EPF’s entire stake would have to pay up to RM26 3 billion. Having mentioned that, what makes it more controversial and shrouded with mystery is  new and unusual conditions imposed by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) in the sale of the RM5 9 billion sale of a 25 per cent stake in RHB Capital Bhd to another interested overseas party albeit the two Abu Dhabi sister firms.

BNM's bizarre  requirements for Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank ADCB and new RHB shareholder Abu Dhabi investment fund Aabar Investments to adjust the sale price if the merger price is lower than the RM10 80 per share price agreed by both companies and the merger must not deviate too far from the market price so as to weaken the merged entity. Some bankers were puzzled by the aggressive and unusual intervention by BNM when it was reported in a few postings that after the deal was signed on Friday, BNM wanted ADCB to state the conditions imposed by them in their press releases. which some bankers say is an  for such a matter. The stand taken by BNM remains elusive, when Zeti refuse to comment anything on the matter, commenting that it is a private bank matter.

Langkawi International Dialogue: KJ vs Tun Mahathir

One of the worst kept secrets of Malaysia is the bad blood or animosity between Tun Mahathir, the former premier and Khairy Jamaluddin or better known as KJ, the son in law of another former premier, Tun Abdullah Badawi. It (the relationship) was further strained when KJ pipped Mukhriz, Mahathir's son, to the post of UMNO's Youth Chief, a coveted position envy of many.. Mahathir got back at KJ and earned some consolation, when he managed to influence the current premier, Najib, to appoint Mukhriz to a cabinet post, albeit Deputy Mister, while KJ, though the reigning Youth Chief, ended emptyhanded.

Langkawi International Dialogue(LID) is the brainchild of Tun Mahathir, and this year's edition started on the wrong foot when one of the intended invitees was none other than Omar al-Bashir, Sudanese President, who has a arrest warrant issued by International Crime Court (ICC) hovering above his head.Thank GOD common sense prevailed, though it is unclear, whether Omar al-Bashir himself cancelled the trip or the Malaysian Government cancelled his invitation.

The other VIP attendee is Robert Mugabe, the controversial Zimbabwean President, who is a close confidante of Tun Mahathir. What many could not understand  is why are these two invited in the first place and what can they contribute to the dialogue?. While  Omar al-Bashir's atrociousnesses were well known and widely reported, Robert Mugabe's mishandling of Zimbabwean economy is not something that is a secret neither.Under his regime Zimbabwe experienced the worst economic crisis ever and was crippled by a unthinkable hyper inflation which reached an inflation rate of millions percent (yes).

KJ have been actively twittering his protest against LID, he claimed that we should have stopped organizing such dialogues long time ago. However it is ambiguous on his reasoning, and none could be detected at the time of this blog was written, we could also sense that none is forthcoming. The way his twitters are flying, it is quite clear that he is quite adamant and is showing his displeasure clearly, no clear reply from Tun Mahathir could be seen right now, not even from his hugely popular blog, chedet blog, but knowing Tun, I believe many quarters are indeed holding their breath waiting for his reply, no holds barred kind of reply.Another interesting matter to be considered is that the current host of the dialogue (LID) is Najib, so indirectly KJ is also implicating Najib by shooting down LID....I wonder what he is up to...and I believe the readers also wonder.
Until we meet again......ciao.......a.h.baharom.

Zulkifli Noordin, then and now: Judge for yourselves

The article below was written by a good friend of mine (Chop Ghani) way back in 2006 if not mistaken, and was published in another friends blog. To preserve its originality, it is reproduced in its original format albeit in Bahasa Malaysia, the article circa aroud a ceramah that was given by Zulkifli Noordin, I am not going to give any comments, but I am leaving it to the wise readers wisdom to make a conclusion or judgement, after thinking thoroughly, please honestly answer the questions below:
1) Is he a chameleon?
2) Could he be trusted?
3) Would you want a guy like this to be your MP.

p/s...some of you might have already come across it, if there are adequate request, I might consider having it translated into English

Thank You and regards

Ceramah Lawyer Zulkifli Noordin(Kes Murtad)

Bismilah hirrahmannirrahim,

Sekarang ni orang kita dok kecoh sangat pasai cerita siti nor haliza nak kawin dengan dato k. cerita berapahantaran, cerita sapa nak reka kasut kawin ct, cerita naik kereta kuda pusing klcc la, dsb. Orang kata - bukan aku kata - ‘like father like son’. Aku no komen, sebab aku don’t give a damn.

Agama islam ynag tercatat pada i/c nya pula mahu digantidengan perkataan ‘kristian’.

Astaghfirullahul azim.

Lepas solat maghrib tadi, aku dan orang rumah cepat ke surau al-islah di taman kajang mewah, kajang, sebab nak dengar ceramah lawyer terkenal sdr zulkifli nordin
(dulu lawyer kepada kes fitnah liwat anwar ibrahim).

Kalau nak tau baca lagi.... panjang lagi ceramah zulkifli nordin ni (2 jam) dan aku pun aku tulis panjang macam novel jugak la kot.

Lepas natrah, zulkifli nordin bangkitkan pula cerita kes suzy teoh yang peluk islam semasa 16 tahun. Ni dia tak sebut pulak tahu bila, tapi aku rasa 80an kot, sebab aku rasa tun salleh abbas pernah handle kes ni.

Haramkan pakai purdah.

Kalau kacau, nanti kata polis nak guna akta keselamatan nak sekat kebebasan beragama pulak.

1997, mesti ramai ingat, kes aisyah bukhari. Sedap namanya, aisyah. Dalam kes aisyah ni puak kristian minta pertolongan mahkamah lagi, sebab depa tau depa boleh guna undang2. zainur zakaria kata, masa kes aisyah tu kalau islam kalah, puak2 kafirun mesti naik kepala punya, tapi menteri agama masa tu hamid othman kata “biaq pi lah, sorang saja melayu”.

Tu dia, 1997, “sorang saja melayu” cuba hampa pikiaq, kalau mufti perak ni cakap la ni ada 100,000 orang melayu murtad dan tunggu nak declare depa murtad macam? Apa, tak pecaya kata2 mufti perak? Dia tak tau hukum haram halal ka kalau dia cakap bohong. Kata ustaz zulkifli nordin lagi ni semua berlaku sebab kita sendiri yang biarkan berlaku. Biaq pi lah....

“melayu tak kisah, asalkan tak kena kepala dia”.

Anak siapa? Ha, tu dia punya nala punya cable kalau TNB tengok pun menangis. So, balik pada meeting puak2 ni di johor pagi tadi, tengku mahkota johor kata ‘JANGAN BAGI’. Polis cakap kat putera sultan ni, “Tuanku, Dato’ Nazri bagi tuanku...”

Tengku mahkota tanya kenapa? Polis jawab sebab anak PM duduk dalam tu. Malahan nazri orang kuat ameno ni mintak pulak polis jaga keselamatan kalau ada orang demonstrasi nak halang mesyuarat tu macam kat penang bulan lepas. Alhamdulillah, walaupun ada orang mai protest meeting tu, ketua polis johor dato’ hussin ismail kata kalau boleh jangan tangkap geng penentang kumpulan article 11 ni.

Dia kata: “Barua-barua Umno macam nazri biadap. Ramai orang umno tak tau. Kesian orang umno (yang lurus bendul) sebab depa tak tau menteri depa macam tu”.

saya”.

Marah sungguh saudara zulkifli nordin kita. “Tuan2 mesti ingat, ini menteri umno pengkhianat bangsa, termasuklah zaid (ibrahim). Kalau tuan2 dalam umno, buang orang2 ni, ataupun esok (bila mati la) jawab dengan Allah”

”jangan kerana tembolok dan kain batik takut kepada pemimpin. Dulu umno 1950 berani lawan kes natrah, tapila ni tunggu kontrek. Jangan biar anak2 cucu kita ludah kita (suatu hari nanti).

”DULU DEPA PERTAHANKAN NATRAH, BERAPA RAMAI YANG DADA BERSARANG DENGAN PELURU, 13 ORANG DIGANTUNG SAMPAI MATI..”

”DARAH MENGALIR DI MAHKAMAH SINGAPURA SEBAB PERTAHANKAN KES NATRAH. BUKAN PERTAHANKAN KONTREK TAPI PERTAHANKAN AKIDAH.”

Bila dia cerita tang bab ni, aku rasa nak menitis ayaq mata. Memang jauh sungguh iman kita dengan orang melayu dulu, depa sanggup mati mempertahankan agama.
Kita, pengecut semuanya. Pikiaq anak, pikiaq bini, pikiaq instalment rumah, duit kereta, duit tu, duit ni.... Duit, duit, duit.... Cinta dunia dan takutkan mati.
Tu la kita hari ni.

Dia sambung lagi... tangan aku pun lenguh menulis dah, tapi aku belum nak surrender. Kalau pen habis ink baru ler aku surrender. ni baru angkat pen, bukan angkat pedang brader...

Depa guna Artikel 11 perlembagaan persekutuan. Artikel tu kata “every person has the right to profess & practice the religion”.

merujuk kes dulu2 cara hakim tanya soalan pun dah tau, jangan percaya hakim melayu

Katanya depa ni nampak elok jer pi mahkamah syariah pakai tudung, tapi sebenarnya PELACUR @ PROSTITUTE @ HOOKER @ SLUT(hat @ ni aku tambah).

Hakim kata betul
ke kamu faham ni sebab mengaku salah melacur boleh kena penjara 6 bulan atau denda rm3,000, depa jawab faham tapi minta ringankan hukuman.

Bila hakim kata ok lah, aku denda hang rm1,500 saja, depa sorak yeeee (aku tambah le ni)... depa keluar pi jumpa bapak ayam tokey cina kat luar mahkamah ambik duit bayaq. Sedih sungguh sebab maruah anak2 melayu islam kita boleh diperdagangkan sebegitu mudah. Umno buat apa? Zulkifli nordin kata diam saja, sesekali boleh gak ‘pakai’.

Tapi itu cerita di mahkamah syariah. Dosa memang dosa, tapi akidah tak terjejas lagi. Orang boleh keluar masuk islam sesuka hati depa saja.

Tambahnya dalam kes kamariah ali pengikut ayah pin, sebab dia dah mengaku murtad di mahkamah syariah, tak boleh nak buat apa apa la. Sekarang status tak clear, so kena tengok apa kata keputusan kes lina joy. Kalau lina joy menang, lepas le kamariah ali sebab dia dah murtad, mahkamah tak boleh hukum dia.

Kamariah ali ni bukan calang orang. Mengaji kat nilam puri, sambung kat universiti al azhar (ada siapa yang tak pernah dengar nama universiti ni???) tahun 60an dulu dan pernah jadi ketua biro dakwah. Dia kawin dengan ustaz mohamad ya, azhar jugak kot (tak sure).Bila balik Malaysia pi kerja di Sarawak (untuk berdakwah la tu) tapi balik semenanjung, dua2 jadi pengikut ayah pin.

KALAU USTAZ / USTAZAH AL AZHAR BOLEH MURTAD, MACAM
MANA KITA???

”saya perhati mufti tak pakai serban pun...” kata hakim kes serban ni.

”sebab itulah orang kafir tunggu sangat kes lina joy ni,” katanya.

Katanya kalau nak tau who’s who yang defend / sekongkol dengan lina joy laknatullah ni, rujuklah laman web www.bracketfund.com.

”KITA MESTI MENANG KES INI UNTUK CENGKAM BANGSA MELAYU. KALAU MENANG KES NI, ANAK-ANAK MELAYU TERBUKA UNTUK DIKRISTIANKAN,” cerita zulkifli nordin, orang yang lama dan masak dengan selok-belok undang ni.

Katanya, buat masa ni, masih susah lagi orang nakmurtadkan anak2 melayu sebab mereka masih lagi dalamjagaan mak bapak.Beliau turut mempersoalkan berapa banyak RM orang melayu islam sumbangkan untuk lawan kes azlina jelani ni sebab orang bukan islam dah

Alhamdulillah, sekarang ni peguam2 melayu dah tampil kehadapan, tubuhkan Badan Peguam Pembela Islam (PPI). “lawyer kita cuba nak lawan”.

Beliau turut menasihatkan orang2 melayu hari ini yang berada diperingkat akar umbi - kita ni lah - supaya bangkit sebab mahkamah akan buat keputusan tak sampai 6 minggu saja lagi. Pejam celik, keputusan dah keluar, dan kalau kita tak berbuat sesuatu, tandatangani petisyen ka, solat hajat ka, pas tu kalah tok sah dok salahkan orang lain lah.

”kita dah tak ada masa nak minta tolong umno ka, siapaka, sebab tu lah lawyer-lawyer melayu mula bersatu.”Zulkifli nordin kata setakat ni ada 68 NGO melayu dah menyatakan sokongan kepada perjuangan PPI, termasuklah abim, JIM, perkim, persatuan ulama. Pekida pun join sama, alhamdulillah.

Lagi satu,

Katanya jangan la dok takut SB bacaka, pasai masa depan islam kat malaysia dah kritikal sangat dah, dan kita kenalah berbuat sesuatu.

Kemudian, zulkifli nordin bagitau yang beberapa orang sultan - johor, selangor, terengganu, perak - dah mula memberi reaksi positif kepada perjuangan lawyer2 islam
Alhamdulillah, sultan selangor ambil berat. So, sembahyang jumaat nanti, kalau tok khatib doakan sultan selangor ni, aku cadangkan korang amin la kuat2 sikit. Mudah2an allah memberi hidayah kepada sultan2 melayu ni. Kalau depa sokong, insya’allah, mereka pasti tetap relevant pada mata rakyat.

Beliau turut mengingatkan orang melayu supaya bangkit dari zon selesa. “saya minta orang2 umno bangkit, sebab dah lama dah mereka (orang bawahan) ditipu.
Sekarang bangkitlah pertahankan melayu.”

So macam, mana?

Amin.

IMF Top Job: Thank GOD Fischer was disqualified

If you could recall, the top IMF job was vacated by Frenchman Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who resigned after his arrest on 14 May on charges of attempting to rape a New York hotel maid, that news even prompted Malaysian politicians to draw parallel the case of Anwar Ibrahim, whereby they suggested that he should follow suit and resign from all his posts. That aside, I am more interested in the IMF. According to the Daily Telegraph, the IMF disqualified Bank of Israel governor Stanley Fischer because of his age, IMF rules state an age limit of 65 for a first-time managing director, but Fisher is 67 years old. There was indeed some pressure for the IMF to change the rules to accomodate Fisher, but thank GOD they didn't bow to those pressures, and the dignity of IMF seems to be more or less restored. With the disqualification,  IMF short-listed their final candidates for managing director position to French Minister of Finance Christine Lagarde and AgustĂn Carstens, Governor of the Bank of Mexico, but even Cartens have acknowledged that Lagarde is the front runner.

Fischer announced a formal bid to head the IMF at the weekend, saying his training as an economist would be an advantage to the candidacy. Who is this guy Fisher, and why am I rejoicing the news that he is disqualified? He is the former IMF deputy chief, on top of that, He has held several leading positions, including at the World Bank and Citigroup, and has headed the Bank of Israel for the past six years.Prior to taking up his position at the IMF, he was the Killian Professor and the Head of the Department of Economics at MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). He has held visiting positions at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem, and at the Hoover Institution at Stanford. But he is not to be confused or related with Fisher Hypothesis, that is Irving Fisher. He has been widely credited with enabling the country to largely escape the global economic crisis. Unemployment in Israel is just over 6 percent, and the real estate sector is booming.

Whatever his credentials are, I wouldn't want an Israeli to head the IMF, ......sorry guys....the risk is just too high...I wouldn't want to even think about it.....ciao....a.h.baharom

Leakages not plugged = Calamities waiting to happen

I have consistently blogged about the 'leaks' from the Malaysian Economy, bear in mind these are what brought to your attention, what about those which are swept under the carpet?...Lately it is getting worse, among the bad 'leaks' that was brought to our attention are by the Tourism Ministry, the Information Ministry, the Ministry of Finance (remember FLOM?) the Agriculture Ministry, the Consumerism Ministry and many more, some are in thousands, some in hundreds of thousands, while the rest are in millions. Though some may sound small and may looks insignificant, but believe me if left unchecked, the results are major...disaster in waiting, calamity waiting to happen. What happen to the slogans introduced by previous Prime Ministers, such as 'Bersih, Cekap, Amanah'...(Clean,Efficient,Trustworthy), what happened to Kepimpinan melalui Teladan (Follow by Example)...they remain mere slogans?....Why is the deafening silence by the Prime Minister, the anti Corruption Agency, the Royal Police.....or are they partners in crime?.

Rakyat will be the ultimate victim, on one side we (the Rakyats) are told to be prudent to fight the inflation, on the other side, they are splashing and throwing away the rakyats hard earned money like nobody's business, ther is one set of rules for us and another, for them, what do they think of us? Dungu's?...It is high time for the Rakyat to..get up, stand up,stand up for their right and don't give up without a fight (thanks to Uncle Bob...Bob Marley for this line). It is high time for us to tell them, to take a hike and go and fly a kite. we are the new generation that can't be fooled easily. We demand for accountability, if they cant give us, might as well we give the job to somebody else who can....I will give you an easy example, How long was the Dentist Khir Toyo appointed as the Menteri Besar?.....How long was Tok Guru Nik Aziz took the responsibility of Menteri Besar?....If during the short term, Khir Toyo could afford such a huge mansion, imagine if he rules as long as Tok Guru? I believe his mansion would be half of Shah Alam.?...Leave it to your imagination..

Till then....Ciao....a.h.baharom

RM1.8 million for a facebook page: Ignorant or pure stupidity

Another bombshell was dropped earlier today, when it was exposed at the Parliament today that the Tourism Ministry spent RM1.8 million for creating and maintainin a facebook page,Impact Creations Sdn Bhd was given a three year contract from 2011 to 2013 to create and maintain the facebook page on behalf of Tourism Ministry, this is a rip off, every Tom, Dick and Harry, and even plain Jane knows that the social site is FREE. Don't tell me that none of the Tourism Ministry employees have any knowledge and experience in maintaining a facebook page, I am pretty sure many of the Tourism Ministry employees indeed have a personal facebook page.

If you could remember clearly, Ng Yen Yen (Tourism Minister) created a furore when she went on a private tour (her husband tagging along), to Australia and New Zealand, which caused a bomb of taxpayers money, and she got the guts to claim that it was a success campaign considering the number of visitors from Oceania who visited Malaysia after her trip. She is the same Minister who is 'horsing' around in Penang currently championing the horse entrepreuners who are operating at the Penang beach which caused a serious mishap recently. My advice to her is to stop horsing around in Penang, and put her own house (Tourism Ministry) in order.

Well I wonder what the two jokers(Abu Zaharain and Zulkifli Nordin) and their master, the Frog Prince (Ibrahim Ali) have to say about this.....Aren't they the fighters of the Rakyat, the defenders of the people.....or do they have selected memory and will only comment on selected issues, if the answer is yes, then the voters should not select them anymore.

What about Bung?...who became infamous for his 'leak' comment, don't tell me he is still on honeymoon, he should be more alert on this kind of'leak' and not the one he became infamous for. Like I have mentioned in my earlier blogs, we could become a much better country if we could control the leaks, we could be much more prosperous....not porous....with leak here...leak there...leak everywhere.....

KJ vs Dr Dzul: The ECM-Libra shares issue

It seems that KJ will have to live with it, though he had dumped those shares quite some time ago. For those who are on twitter and following, would have realized how twitter messages were flying between KJ and Dr Dzul throughout yesterday. Though just sitting across each other in Parliament, they were adamant to twitter and let the whole world know about the animosity, it also catches the attention of others on twitter, some tried to cool it down, others like the fortunate MP (who happens to be at the right time at the right place) Kamal, no....was it Alan, ...no it is Nathan, was caught trying to pour petrol in the raging fire. It reached a stage where KJ was threatening to take legal action against Dr Dzul.

It all (the twitter war)was ignited when Dr Dzul claimed that the deal of  ECM Libra-Avenue Capital Resources merger in 2005 “plundered the nation.” , KJ being a smart ass, was pushing Dr Dzul to a corner and asked how does it plundered the nation, Dr Dzul queried back how a young unemployed punk like KJ(during the time period mentioned) was able to purchase RM9.2mil ECM-libra shares.

Both didn't want to answer the direct question, but rather questioned back, having said that, I am not sure whether KJ realized or not, he is the one who is worse off , ego damaged and bruised because of the twitter war. By the way, I honestly believe that the rakyat is owed an explanation, what are his roles?, how did he manage to get those shares?, how did he funded it?, how did he manage to get funding? who bought his shares?.....and many more question, for once....come clean...finish it off....for once and all....adios....a.h.baharom

RM27 million for One Million Youth do: Is it necessary?

Youth and Sports Minister Ahmad Shabery Cheek said that the recent One Million Youth Gathering in Putrajaya cost the Government RM27 million to organize, that is not a small amount of money, that aside, what did the gathering achieved? Other than all the youth are being put in one place, (and the actual number that was reported was nowhere near one million), they mingled around and watched the European Cup final, there were speeches by the politicians, with the finale speech by the UMNO President, urging and begging them to vote for the current Government, and defend Putrajaya from being taken over by the opposition, ....mmmmhhhh........now it makes sense, in short, RM27 million of the taxpayers money was used to fund the election campaign of BN. Don't these people ever feel guilty? During the period where the people are forced to tighten their budgets due to the inflation and declining purchasing power, they are spending lavishly, and .sad part is it is the rakyat's money. On one side the PM is saying that he is under pressure from escalating world oil prices and has to slash subsidies on consumer essentials, such as petrol, diesel, gas and sugar, In contrary he is wasting millions on unnecessary expenses
KJ vehemently denied that public fund was misused, and that this gathering was a government project and not a political project (What?, he thinks we are still living in the 60s?)..Wake up KJ, you can't keep on conning the people, news travel fast now compared to the time your father in law was the PM.
Ok...people...ciao.....a.h.baharom

Bersih 2.0 vs Perkasa: Dumb, Dumber and Dumbest

Bersih 2.0 is a demonstration which was planned quite some time ago, in fact it is the sequel to Bersih which was held in 2007, which was led by Mat Sabu, only with a slight twist, it will now be headed by Ambika, the current head of the Lawyer's Council..Bersih 2.0 would organise the "Walk for Democracy" protest as the government had ignored its demands for electoral reform. That aside, now Perkasa is counter organizing its own demonstration, which is aimed at stopping the Bersih 2.0 demo (dumb eh?).

Ibrahim Ali, the head of Perkasa, in his media conference held at the Parliament lobby, accompanied by his two new found 'loyal' comrades (Abu Zaharain and Zulkiflee Nordin)...or could we say parrots? since they are echoing almost everything that Ibrahim Ali have been saying. They have also been busily promoting their new found vocab Anwarinas, repeated like crazy on the national idiot box.Ibrahim also went further expressing his concern that the Bersih 2.0 demo will include stone throwing and burning of public vehicles (dumber eh?....mmmhhh....I wonder where does he gets his idea from...or is Perkasa up to something...fishy right?}

Concluding his media conference, he proclaimed that the demonstration by Perkasa is for the benefit of Malaysian people (Dumbest statement). He further claimed that Bersih 2.0 is headed by those whore are anti-Islam (shouldn't he be investigated under Sedition Act? Or does he really has the immunity). Why are these people so against a demonstration that is held to act as a pressure group to force the relevent agencies to conduct fair elections (Don't they want fair election) and since when do these jokers were given the mandate to act on behalf of the Malaysian people,  If fair election is held, I am 100% (of course God willing) sure that they will be booted out, unless their constituents are made of pure cuckoos....My main concern is that, if ever any untoward incident happens on that day, the blame will almost definitely be on Bersih 2.0, I am pretty sure these Jokers are trying to provoke Bersih 2.0, to the Police, we really hope, that they will be true to their slogan, "Sedia Berkhidmat" to the rakyat and not to certain parties, in the mean time GOD help and have mercy on us. If a year ago, I told you that Ibrahim Ali, Abu Zaharain and Zulkiflee Nordin will be working hand in glove, in a pact, on the same said, you would have sent me to an asylum...That's politics, anything is possible, but to these people a small reminder, sooner or later you will have to meet the Creator, the Almighty, no matter how swift you could spin and twist the facts now, it is all useless during the encounter, and like the 'King' a.k.a Elvis said,“Truth is like the sun. You can shut it out for a time, but it ain't goin' away.”
Till we meet again........ciao.......a.h.baharom

RM100 million blown away in a day : Daylight robbery by Rais Yatim

It is despairing, nope, it is disgusting, in the name of promoting arts, by organizing 2011 Artiste Day, Rais Yatim made sure he will still stay in the limelights, at least for the time being. This is the guy whose middle name is 'controversy'.If you could remember, he obtained hi PhD by submitting a thesis titled "ISA should be abolished", and yet when he is back in the Government, he backtracked and said it should be retained and that his thesis was just an academic exercise, nobly, he should have done the honourable thing to do, which is to surrender his Doctorate since his study is invalid. This is the same guy, while in the now defunct Semangat 46, praised and idolized Tok Guru Nik Aziz, and claimed that, he had never met anyone with such characteristics like Tok Guru, "syumul' or pure, and when he is back in the Government, labelled Tok Guru as the the biggest 'Satan" (God Forbids).

Yes he was the same guy who arrogantly mocked a journalist who asked a question in English during a Merdeka Day press conference. He is the same guy who was 'accused' by one of  the Indonesian NGO of raping his Indonesian maid. He claims it was a slander and the case is pending in courts.. He was the same Minister who blew away big chunks of the rakyats money in erecting 1Malaysia monument, and kept silent when the Perlis Mufti issued a fatwa against it. Yes, he is the one again who claims to 'champion' of Bahasa Kebangsaan and portrays himself as the most patriotic guy alive (yet he didn't blink an eye when he blew away RM100 million of hard earned taxpayers money ), what makes it more painful is that it was done when the rakyats have to face subsidy cuts and inflation, this guy is spending the rakyats money like nobody's business. He is not only arrogant, but incompetent as well. He have committed his most heinous act to date when he blew away RM100 million in a day on a mediocre event where artiste didn't bother to turn up, he owes us an explanation, but having said that, I don't foresee an apology coming....it will be swept under the carpet...and as time pass by....Malaysians will forget....as usual....please I beg you...for once...prove me wrong...adios ...a.h.baharom

Walkabout Goodies: Blatant Abuse of Government Fund @ People's Money

In yesterday's walkabout in kampong Kolam in Selangor, as usual in a veiled approach, the Prime Minister, Najib, announced an on the spot allocation of RM300,000.00 to build a basketball court. Don't get me wrong, I am all for development of Sports Facilities, but the manner of how it was approved, and the shouts of hidup BN that was followed irritates me, in the first place it is the peoples money, so it should be Hidup Rakyat and not Hidup BN,secondly, is this how our wealth is managed? If the answer is yes, GOD have mercy on us, you can't simply throw money to fish votes, why it is only done in the states controlled by the opposition, and smack in the face is to a certain race (I am not a racist, full stop).

I wonder where is Perkasa? Where is Ibrahim Ali? I thought he was against the idea of pampering and spoiling this particular  race, cause HE said they are ungrateful. My advice to the others especially in the states controlled by BN, if you ever need anything vote for the opposition, BN will come scrambling to you with all sorts of carrots, if you keep on voting them, they will be in a comfort zone, taking things for granted. And to MACC and SPRM, isn't this an act of corruption? This would be a wonderful avenue to restore the public confidence in you guys, don't bother whether the guy is the PM or not, isn't everybody equal in front of the law, or you would like to strenghten the popular belief that you guys do not have balls....oopppsss...guts.

Labelling the Subsidized Goods: Most Absurd Suggestion of the Year

Ahmad Maslan,  the UMNO's Information Chief (Malaysia's largest ruling party.....on paper that is) made a proposition which he is seriously considering to forward and obtain the approval of the Malaysian PM (Najib), a proposal to have all the subsidized goods (i.e. flour) to carry labels showing that the Government is subsidizing them. Can someone tell me what is the IQ level of this guy?. For your further information, he is currently the Member of the Parliament of Malaysia for the Pontian constituency in the State of Johor. Come on people of Pontian, don't tell me you can't find a more suitable candidate, I am sure 99.9% of the people on this planet have much superior IQ than this joker.Maybe in the next GE he will be voted out (God willing).Does he ever consider the extra cost of these labels? Or he considers that the cost is okay as long as the ruling party gets all the limelights? Has he ever considered the morals and ethics?

Does he thinks that the subsidy comes from the parties coffers? The subsidy is the people's money, the Government is just a caretaker to manage and administer them. I would agree to this absurd condition on one condition, all the MP's carry a sign on the forehead with exactly the same label "Subsidized by the People", all their mansions, including the multimillion mansion owned by the infamous dentist carry's sign of the same label on the front gate. What ever visits made by the powers to be (explicit or implicit) (one stone one bird or one stone two birds) including marriage proposals and convocation (US or Kazakhstan) they will have to carry buntings or banners proclaiming "subsidized by the people", what ever programs carried out under the false impersonation of so called 1Malaysia, or 'meet the people session" will also need to be announced as "subsidized by the people"

I dare you....if you agree to my condition, I will be one of those who will work day night without pay labelling all the subsidized goods and cease to blog, and will try to encourage many more people to join me. If not then I suggest you to shut up and ship out...shame on you...you certainly trying to do the unthinkable, people will never ever think of it, let alone trying to implement it...don't ever forget, there will come a time, when you will be called upon to answer to the Almighty...your PM will not be there to help you. Nazri the Clown wouldn't be there, Ibrahim Ali would have switch camp for the 900th time... you will be alone....scary eh!....ciao....a.h.baharom

Higher Oil Price: Someone is not complaining...in fact smiling all the way

How I wish that the Rakyat could share and smile too...but....it seems that only Petronas is smiling..sigh!, and some others too (Don't you think so?)....but definitely not the rakyat, for a matter of fact the rakyats are huffing and puffing, sweating over the inflation. Yesterday, for the financial year ending March 2011, Petronas announced their increase in the full-year PROFIT more than a third to RM63bil from RM45.5bil a year earlier. This increase in profit is largely due to the higher oil prices and larger volume of sales. I have been saying all these while that any increase in the world oil price would indeed benefit Malaysia...or in other words...I told you so...(Does this higher profits for Petronas translate into higher divident payment or royalty to the Government of Malaysia?, if the answer is yes, wouldn't you like to pray that it would be used for good, development purposes,) Why the Government doesn't want to announce these jovial news as front page news on the mainstream newspapers (afterall they owned them and could dictate what would be wrritten and what not). Why isn't it being broadcasted on the idiotbox (these are also owned and dictated by them). Don't they think that the rakyat also deserve to be told and should be happy, or do they think that Petronas belongs to the Powers to be...and it is their right to administer the profits/dividents/royalties or whatsoever name you call them, as long as dollars and sense. On the other hand they were splashing the news how the government suffers, have to dig deep into their coffers, in order to subsidize the rakyat...What now?...Walk the talk of accountability, transparency...and whatever you preached at WIEF in Astana Kazakhstan Mr Prime Minister, or is it mere talk, talks are cheap....it is actions that matters. The article of the increased profit only appears on the Biz section, and very small....I couldn't even see it on the national language mainstream newspaper...which is still going on with its PAS bashing session. Petronas is Petronas Nasional and belongs to the rakyat and should remain that way....not Petroliam Najib Serta rakan....

Classic piece from Zunar:'Signs' that will haunt the powers to be?

This cartoon by the popular cartoonist Zunar, plucked from Malaysiakini today

Journalism in Malaysia: How low could we get?

I am astonished how journalist nowadays stoop so low and let themselves to be used or rather abused as political pawns.I was having my teh tarik this evening and couldn't help but glance at the national language mainstream newspaper owned by the ruling party (I have stopped reading this particular newspaper for a very very long time, let alone buying it). it shocked me on the coverage that was  given to news related to PAS in today's edition, almost 4 full pages!

Then there was a second shock, one of the columnist is Zulkifli Nordin, yes the same guy that was treated as an outcast, ridiculed, condemned and you know what ( it is a kind of reversal fortune for the ex-mufti of Perlis, Dr.Asri, who used to be a columnist, but now an outcast). The third shock was when Zulkifli Nordin praised Jocelyn Tan of an English newspaper owned by another associate party, the same Jocelyn who HE used to curse, praising her for coming up with an accurate understanding of PAS current affairs. (This is the same Jocelyn who RPK quipped, even Jocelyn was granted an interview with me....wink...wink..). I am and ardent follower of this newspaper since childhood, way back when Tunku Abdul Rahman has an interest in it, till now, but I can easily vouch that today's version couldn' even come close to yesteryears, what more with journalist (can you find any other word? I don't think these people deserved to be called journalist) like Jocelyn and Baradan running two disgusting columns in the newspaper.

These are specialised spin doctors, a small misunderstanding among Oppositions parties will be painted as though they are on the verge of breaking up, on the other hand big feud among the parties of their paymasters, will be portrayed as a storm in the teacup.Back to Zulkifli Nordin, his article today made me (and I believe many more) feel disgusted, it was written with clear malafide, a low class article with no taste at all.If ever there are Razzies for Malaysian Journalism, these three people would be front runners. And one more very important thing is, when these powers to be will ever learn...you can fool some people some time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time.....adios for now.....a.h.baharom
