Street Demonstration: Why the Double Standard?

It puzzles me, it really does, the way the authorities approaching the looming demonstrations that are planned. Bersih 2.0 is being hounded, pressured, demonised...and you name it, they've done it kinda of feeling.Front paged news on mainstream media, prime time news coverage, and even the friday prayer's sermon mentioned it. Arrest are being made, on anyone who is suspected of propagating, promoting or instigating Bersih 2.0.T-shirts displaying Bersih logo are being confiscated, anyone in possession of Bersih 2.0 materials are being hauled up, even the National Laureatte and poet, A.Samad Said, is not being spared, called for questioning on his support for Bersih via his innocent poem. As of this blog being written, not less than 105 people have been arrested in relation with Bersih 2.0.(Even the Malaysian football team which normally wears yellow jersey for the home games, surprisingly wear blue this time around when the met Taiwan @ Chinese Taipei in the World Cup qualifying first round first leg match...and on a lighter side...it is rumoured that DiGi services are paralysed because all the DiGi yellow men are arrested...:-))

But, what baffles and disgust me is that the special treatment received by the other two organization, albeit UMNO Youth and PERKASA (or as some people label it as PEKASAM or PERKOSA). They are blatantly issuing warnings and taking it to the streets as though they have special immunities. The last two major incidents are when, a group of people from these two organization threatened to torch PKR Headquarters and the demonstration against the Penag Chief Minister in Penang today (and why am I keep seeing the Komtar Traders Association vice-president  Mohamad Ghani Abdul Jiman who is the King of cheap publicity in almost all occasions that are against Lim Guan Eng?...mmmhhh point to ponder), .While the former incidence only involved verbal threatening, in the latter a few cars were damaged, their windscreen were smashed by the PERKASA/UMNO Youth mob's, I bet you, it would not be shown on tonights news bulletin, neither would it be reported in tommorrows mainstream newspapers. If yellow shirts with the words Bersih 2.0 is outlawed, why the same is not done on red t-shirts with the words Patriot? If the yellow t-shirts are promoting the demonstration by Bersih, the red t-shirts are no angels, the are indeed promoting the demonstration by the UMNO Youth.

If Lokman Adam threatened to torch PKR headquarters, the demonstration today threatened to close down Penang Bridge. If the Deputy IGP, the infamous Khalid (remember him?...he is the former Selangor CPO who caused lots of hardship to the other Khalid (MB)) is so swift in throwing the lawbook at Bersih 2.0, threathening with all sorts of laws, why the same Khalid is not doing that to PERKASA and UMNO Youth? Why the double standard police? GOD have mercy and help us...ciao....a.h.baharom
